Quote of the Day – The Power of Thought
Posted by Scott Cofer in Personal Development, Self Improvement Quotes on January 12, 2010
Today’s quote comes from the late great Henry Ford:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right.”
Profound! The power we all have, which is God given, is in our mind. We can engineer our own destiny, if only we can envision it in our own mind.
That which we think about becomes our destiny … what are you thinking about today?
Once I decided to stop running over my future because I was too busy viewing my past in the rear view mirror, I started to make HUGE strides forward in my personal development. It all stemmed from focusing on where I wanted to go.
So … where do you want to go? Are you thinking about that ‘new you’ right now?
Changing Negative Thought Patterns
Posted by Scott Cofer in Improve Your Wellness, Personal Development, Self Improvement Quotes on January 5, 2010
I was talking with a good friend of mine last night, and he came out with a quote – some self improvement advice actually – that I hadn’t heard before which really had an impact on me …
“Change what you’re doing, and you’ll change what you’re thinking of doing.”
He told me that a short time ago he was extremely upset at a particular individual, and he really wanted to ‘club the guy’.
However, being a student of continuous improvement himself, he decided to call some one and talk it through.
In the process of trying to get some one on the phone to speak to about it, and by the time he connected with a friend of his, he had all but forgotten what he was so mad about in the first place!
He changed what he was focusing on – clubbing the guy – and focused his attention instead on getting somebody on the phone. And in the process, he changed what he was thinking of doing.
I thought to myself, “How useful a tool is that!!”
There are so many situations where we can get out of a negative thought pattern by simply ‘doing something else’ to change our focus – and our mental state.
What are some situations that you can apply this technique to?
Are You Self-Made?

“We are all self-made. But only the successful will admit it.” – Earl Nightingale
Pretty sobering thought, isn’t it? But so true – all of our thoughts and actions up to this point have brought us to where we are, good or bad.
So if you’re not happy with where you are on your life’s journey, it’s up to you and you alone to re-focus your vision, thoughts and actions and set a course for where you want to be.
Then, as things begin to change for the better, you’ll be one of the few that are proud to admit they are ’self-made’.
Remember … “We are what we think about.”
Change a thought, change an action … change an action, and you’ll change your destiny.
